SCS Success Stories: “Al”issa R.

”I've been doing my best to keep up with physical therapy at home to maximize the benefits of the [spinal cord] stimulators.
Before my injury, I loved sports and working out, so being able to get the surgery and return to those activities has greatly improved my quality of life. My mental health was pretty rough before starting epidural stimulation, but now I have PT to look forward to each day, and I've set new physical goals that weren’t possible before the surgery.
Previously, I could only use the standing frame and FES bike at my rehab center, and I could only go twice a week at most. Now, I try to stand every day using the parallel bars at home and focus on a variety of exercises, like pushing myself in a manual chair, working on fine motor skills, sitting balance, and more.”
